If you’re looking for a mindless gore fest, then you might be inclined to say that this is an “okay” film. The acting is average, but even Sean Astin can only take this script as far as writer Jake Wade Wall was willing to allow in his character development. The effects are decent in attempting to recreate what worked so well in the original, but lack the detail and overall execution of “KNB,” which has become the genre standard in practical effects. However, upon watching it I kept saying to myself “okay, so when is it going to get better.” Unfortunately, it just never did. I saw many ads and reviews, saying it was leaps and bounds better than Spring Fever, which got me even more excited. I had very high hopes for this outing and should have probably stayed more reserved instead of psyching myself up for an awesome gorefest on par with Roth’s original film. The newest being Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, which was directed by Kaare Andrews. With that being said, his film has now spawned two sequels that lower the benchmark each time. The cast, directing, and gore were amazing and still hold up to this day. I enjoyed his film Cabin Fever very much. In my personal opinion, Eli Roth is one of the best directors this genre has to offer.
